ATLANTA - A popular Atlanta-based rock band is turning to the internet for help after suffering a major loss on the road.

Members of the group Drivin' N Cryin' had thousands of dollars in custom and vintage equipment stolen after a show this weekend.

Their name developed from a mix of drivin' rock sound and cryin' folk music roots.

Many of the instruments the Atlanta band creates its music with date back decades.

Now they're gone.

"I don't even have a strap to play a guitar with! I don't even have a pick. It's gone!" said Tim Nielsen of Drivin' N Cryin'.

Thieves stole this trailer packed with vintage amplifiers - unique guitars - and a custom drum set early Saturday.

"My amplifiers were from the 60's and I've been playing them my whole life," said Nielsen.

The band had just wrapped a show in Macon and checked in at a nearby hotel. They woke up and their trailer was gone.

"They would have had to have been some strong guys. The trailer didn't have any wheels on it. You would have had to pick it up and physically move it from our vehicle to another vehicle," said Nielsen.

Band managers got the word out quickly in cyberspace - hoping to beat the thieves before they tried to cash in on their equipment.

Details of the crime -- posted on Facebook -- have already yielded results for the band. They say they've recovered two amplifiers and one electric guitar at this pawn shop.

"Mack's Amplifiers, the guy at the pawn shop, had never seen one of them before. He went on the internet to research it - linked up with Drivin' N Cryin' and saw the link to Facebook - our post, that our stuff had been robbed and he called us," said Nielsen.

Information on who sold the equipment has been handed over to police and the musicians are hopeful they can recover even more items.

"This is our livelihood. The tools of our trade. [These] are prized possessions we make our art with. To lose that stuff, to have to start over with, is...," said Nielsen.

Drivin' N Cryin' still plans to continue touring -- their next gig is Friday in Bainbridge, Georgia. They'll use some equipment borrowed from the Allman Brothers and the Drive-by Truckers.
