In their 25 years as a band, members of Drivin' N Cryin' say they've never seen anything like it.

The band's trailer and musical equipment were stolen after a show in Macon, but fans helped track some of the items to a Chamblee pawn shop.

"Drivin' N Cryin' is the working man’s band," band manager Kenneth Green told the AJC. "Their instruments to them are their tools of the trade."

Within minutes of letting fans know their trailer and musical equipment had been stolen following a show in Macon, the phone started ringing for the Atlanta-based rock band, led by Kevn Kinney. Fans, fellow musicians and strangers offered guitars and drums so the band could keep playing.

"We’re all emotionally overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and caring the Georgia music community, our fans, our friends and our families have shown," Green said.

But it was a call from a DeKalb County pawn shop that renewed the band's faith in the power of spreading the word, Green said.

"Miller's Music purchased it and then realized it could belong to Drivin' N Cryin' after hearing what happened," Green said.

Sure enough, some items pawned at the Chamblee shop belonged to the band, Green said. Now the band hopes a copy of the photo ID of the Atlanta man who pawned the equipment will help police track down the other stolen items, Green said.

The band posted a copy of the driver's license on its website and is asking fans to continue spreading the word. Someone has also tried unsuccessfully to pawn the band's equipment at other metro Atlanta pawn shops, Green said.

In the middle of one of their most successful years in a decade, the band still plans to play two shows this weekend, even if it means borrowing guitars, Green said.

“Every show will go on," Green said. "We’re taking our fans up on their offers.”
