Justin Bieber and Ludacris won a Moonman Award for the city of Atlanta at last night’s MTV Video Music Awards. The duo won the New Artist Award for their version of Bieber’s mega hit Baby. Justin Bieber and Ludacris both have ties to Atlanta. In addition to winning the MTV VMA, Bieber also performed at the annual event that celebrates the best music videos of the year.

Justin Bieber moved to the city of Atlanta after Usher (also a resident of Atlanta) and DEF marketing executive Scooter Braun signed him to Island Records. This was after Brown stumbled upon one of Bieber's self-posted music videos on You Tube. The rest as they say is history. Bieber officially signed with Island Records in 2008. Shortly thereafter, Bieber moved to Atlanta to be close to Usher and to base his career. His debut album My World produced the smash hits One Time and First Dance, a duet with Usher. Justin Bieber fever struck the country with such an intensity that he became a household name. At last night’s MTV Video Music Awards, Justin Bieber thanked his mentor, Usher.

Rapper Ludacris is also a resident of Atlanta, and he is very active in the community. In August of 2010, Ludacris appeared at the Back-to-School Rally at Greenbriar Mall. A record number of parents and students attended the annual event. Since 2001, The Ludacris Foundation has donated $1.5 million to support grassroots organizations that work to help children, as well as invested more than 5.000 hours in devoted service to young people across the nation.

Justin Bieber and Ludacris remain very popular with young Atlanta fans. In fact, Justin Bieber played to a sold-out house at Gwinnett Arena on August 9th. Parents continue to applaud the wholesomeness of Justin Bieber and the good works of Ludacris. Congratulations for representing Atlanta and winning a Moonman trophy at the MTV Video Music Awards.
