Northside Tavern, located at 1058 Howell Mill Rd., is not fancy. In a former life, it was a gas station. Now, it's just a bar. A great, noisy, crowded bar with live blues seven days a week, including regular sets by the very popular house band, The Mudcats. It was Danny "Mudcat" Dudeck who first inspired the tavern to start offering blues music, in 1992. Today, the legenday Monday jam session has been known to draw famous blues musicians to sit in, such as Taj Mahal.

The tavern is a true labor of love, having been owned by the same family for over 35 years!

Besides the music, the club offers cheap beer, and, according to reviews on Google, generous drinks "if the bartender likes you." There's no cover charge during the week, while the cover charge is only $10 on the weekends, except for very special events.

The crowd ranges from people in their 20's to 50's plus, and from bikers to preppies. The food is typical bar food, and there are pool tables available if you want something to do besides listening to the music.

So, if you want to hang out, have some cheap drinks, and listen to some great music, be sure to check out Northside Tavern!
