Atlanta is the second-most wireless savvy American city, according to AT&T Inc.’s Small Business Technology Poll.
Only Miami ranked higher, AT&T said. Atlanta had above national average rankings for most technology categories:
Netbooks/Mini Computers -- Netbooks ranked above the national average with Atlanta businesses. In the survey, 38 percent of small businesses felt this technology was important.
Smartphones -- Atlanta small businesses rated the importance of smartphones higher than six out of the 12 markets in the survey.
Cell/Wireless Mobile Phone -- The importance of cell phones to small businesses in Atlanta exceeds five other markets in the study. Half of Atlanta small businesses surveyed said getting by without wireless technology would be a major challenge -- the highest percentage among the markets surveyed. Only 17 percent said they could get by without it.
Tablet PCs -- Small businesses in Atlanta ranked tablet PCs last in terms of importance. About 23 percent ranked such services important to running their business, a sentiment that was echoed in most markets involved in the survey.
