Sean Costello was a brilliant young blues musician from Atlanta who died tragically the evening before he turned 29, in April, 2008. He suffered from Bipolar Disorder,a disorder which causes abnormal emotional highs and lows. It is a tricky disease, and it is not understood well enough. That is why the Sean Costello Memorial Fund was established by Sean's mom and stepfather.

The fund furthers research into Bipolar Disorder, and in particular the connection between the condition and creativity and between Bipolar Disorder and social anxiety. It also provides funds for musicians who suffer from the disorder but often do not have insurance, and provides resources for families.

Sean Costello began performing at age 16. He played with many of the greats of the blues, both in Atlanta and elsewhere. His knowledge of the blues was phenomenal. His potential was unimaginable.

On the website, there is a store where you can buy Sean's music and other items. All profits from the store go to the fund. You can also hear his incredible music on the site, and it will tear your heart to think of what we lost.

In September, Sean's Blues: A Memorial Retrospective was released. It contains 20 tracks, mostly live and unreleased, although all three of his albums are represented. It is an amazing CD from start to finish, and at $18.00, a real bargain.

The website also lists memorial concerts and other news and has a section for donations. Please consider making a purchase or a donation, and please go and listen to the music. It is how we best honor and remember Sean Costello, who joined the ranks of blues and other musicians who died too soon.
