Hollywood isn't fond of endings that aren't happy and perfectly neat, in fact the dream factory abhors messy denouements.

So it's no surprise that when a star suffers a sticky patch in real life, the bigger the name the quicker to move on they so frequently are.

Jennifer Lopez, 42 , is no exception, and so today, less than a fortnight after announcing her marriage to Marc Anthony was over, the singer-actress was hard at work on the set of her new movie in Atlanta.

The film, which is entitled What to Expect when You're Expecting, is a paean to parenthood, which aptly is the star's most current concern.

It also stars Cameron Diaz, Chris Rock and Chace Crawford and tells the stories of four couples as they become parents.

Lopez is no stranger to being a hands on mother, of course, but from these shots it seems that her character in the film is considerably less glamorous the Love Don't Cost a Thing star.

Wearing dungarees and unflattering baggy trousers and sweater, the actress also carried a large brown bag that looked like it could actually carry things inside it.

A chore long delegated to an assistant in the world of Jenny from the Block, of course, who prefers to carry a tiny sparkling clutch.

The hotly awaited portmanteau-style epic has been likened to Valentine's Day, except with nappies.

And the focus for the American Idol judge, who is set to commit to a new season of the talent show any day now according to People.com, is very much on her children,

The stunning mother-of-two is making sure that three-year-old twins Max and Esme feel secure in the wake of their parents split.

Today she lavished a kiss upon her son Max, now the main man in her life, during a break in filming.

His sister Emme was also close by, and looked beautiful in a dove grey dress teamed with a delicate gold bracelet, proving she already has her mother's style.

The little darling's tiny nails were painted yellow to match her hair bands.

But while the sophistication of her outfit belied Emme's tender years, the toddler was splashed in face paint - or perhaps fruit juice.

Lopez was in Miami at the weekend to celebrate her 42nd birthday with the twins and close friends and family aboard the 122-foot Oceanfast super yacht Never Say Never.

She took to Twitter later that day, writing: 'Thank you all of my lovers for the birthday wishes! I’m having an amazing day surrounded by family and friends.'

While she was clearly doing her best to be upbeat, she later appeared solemn as she stole a few moments alone.

Lopez is holidaying with an entourage of 16 which includes her mother Guadalupe, sister, stylist and manager Benny Medina.

Her 3-year-old twins with Anthony, Emme and Max, are also understood to have accompanied her on the trip.

The night before, the group dined at at Scott Conant's restaurant, Scarpetta, inside the Fontainebleau hotel.

'When they brought out her birthday cake after the meal, she began to sing,' an insider tells People magazine.

She was very happy. The whole group had a blast, staying for hours. They closed down the restaurant.'

The star is in town to begin work on her new movie What To Expect When You're Expecting.

Lopez and Anthony announced the end of their seven year marriage on July 12.

The relationship is said to have been plagued by 'horrible fights' with sources alleging that Anthony was a 'controlling and jealous' husband.

'They just couldn't get along any more and it made them both miserable,' a source said.

'They decided it's best to go their separate ways for the sake of their two kids.'

Lopez and Anthony began their relationship just three weeks after her very high profile engagement to Ben Affleck was called off in January 2004.

In June that same year, they said 'I do' in a secret ceremony at her lavish Beverly Hills home.
